As press, I attended the worldwide premiere of Angel Studios' new animated film, "The King of Kings," at AMC Thoroughbred 20 in Franklin, Tennessee on March 25. The film's release date is April 11, 2025. The story synopsis from the studio- “A father tells his son the greatest story ever told, and what begins as a bedtime tale becomes a life-changing journey. Through vivid imagination, the boy walks alongside Jesus, witnessing His miracles, facing His trials, and understanding His ultimate sacrifice. The King of Kings invites us to rediscover the enduring power of hope, love, and redemption through the eyes of a child.”
Starring Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Oscar Isaac, Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kingsley, Mark Hamill, Forest Whitaker, Roman Griffin Davis, James Arnold Taylor, this family-friendly faith-based film is part of Angel Studios' mission to revolutionize entertainment. - “Angel Studios is a new kind of movie studio - we produce and distribute award-winning titles from independent creators. Ten years in the making, this highly anticipated film has generated considerable excitement. Representing my radio show, Cover to Cover, on Brushwood Media Network, I went to the event with Kayden Gordon (Kayden Gordon Show) and country singer Pepper Brooks. Although we were unsure of the film's attendees, the honor and excitement of celebrating this important family animation were exciting.
Upon arriving at AMC Thoroughbred 20 in Franklin, Tennessee, we found two red-carpet areas—one for cast and crew's families and friends, the other for the press—each complete with lighting, cameras, and the film's backdrop. Hoping to interview everyone possible, we found our spot on the red carpet. Surrounded by major media outlets, journalists, photographers, social media influencers, and representing syndicated radio, we found ourselves in a very crowded environment.
Initially, we interviewed Seong-Ho-Jang (Director/Writer/Producer), Rob Edwards (Co-Writer), CEO of Angel Studios Neal Harmon, Woo-hyung Kim (Cinematographer, his first animation), Jared Geesey (Chief Distribution Officer), Jim Cummings (voice of Winnie the Pooh), James Arnold Taylor (voice actor in the film), David E. Fischer (Exec. Producer), Jarod Geesey Exec. Producer), and a few other individuals supporting the film financially and promotionally. I hoped to meet Kristen Chenoweth. I am rarely a"fan girl", but she is an exception.
She permitted only Angel Studios to interview her and its photographers to take her picture. Everyone involved with “The King of Kings” that night posed for the twenty plus cameras snapping dozens of pictures capturing this worldwide opening. For me, a highlight was watching the film debut in the theater with Kristen a few rows ahead, hearing her song for the first time on screen. The song's beauty and emotion moved many of us to tears. Her powerful voice lyrically delivers this powerful story.
For everyone, I highly recommend "The King of Kings". It is a powerful and moving story, one that reminds us of the incredible life and sacrifice of one man. If you are a believer or not, this film will touch your heart and remind you of what truly matters in life. We should have love, compassion, and forgiveness for ourselves and others, and accept each other. This content is needed in our world today. Angel Studios is responding to the need for better faith-based entertainment for families. Don’t miss it.
