Supporting Women and Families: How Local Counselor Sara Rader Brings Hope and Healing to Moms
Life’s journey is filled with joys and challenges, and for many women—especially mothers—having the right support can make all the difference. That’s where Sara Rader, LPC MHSP, comes in. As a licensed counselor specializing in women’s mental health, pregnancy, parenting, and trauma, Sara has dedicated her career to helping women and families navigate life’s transitions with confidence and resilience.
Sara’s passion for counseling began long before she earned her master’s degree in 2018. With a heart for serving others, she opened her first private practice in Kentucky in 2021. In 2024, she and her husband made the decision to move back to Tennessee to be closer to family in Goodlettsville. Now, she’s bringing her expertise to local women and families in need of compassionate, professional support.
As a mother of two—a 4-year-old son and a 2-year-old daughter—Sara deeply understands the emotional and mental load that comes with parenthood. She is especially passionate about working with women during pregnancy, postpartum, and early childhood years, helping them process emotions, build healthy coping strategies, and find balance amid the demands of motherhood.
Sara has a heart for mothers who find themselves struggling to enjoy the season of motherhood. “When a parent realizes they really wanted to enjoy motherhood and they just aren’t enjoying it, I love to help those moms get to a place where they can experience motherhood in a more positive way,” Sara shares.
She is also passionate about working with women who have gone through traumatic birthing experiences, miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss. She partners with The Finley Project, a nonprofit organization that provides mothers who have lost a baby between 20 weeks gestation and two year of age with 12 free counseling sessions. Through this work, Sara helps grieving mothers process their pain, find healing, and rebuild their lives after unimaginable loss.
Sara also offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, a specialized treatment for processing trauma. Unlike traditional therapy sessions, EMDR can be offered in an intensive three-hour session that takes place all in one day, helping individuals reprocess traumatic memories in a structured, effective way. "Unlike traditional therapy sessions, EMDR incorporates neuroscience to help individuals reprocess traumatic memories in a structured, effective way."
In addition to individual and couples therapy, Sara occasionally hosts group counseling sessions, creating a safe space for women to connect, share experiences, and support one another. She also has a passion for training other providers in her specialty, as well as hosting workshops and seminars to equip professionals and parents with valuable tools for mental and emotional well-being.
Beyond her career, Sara finds great joy in her own family life. She and her husband, who serves as a pastor in Greenbrier, are raising their two children with a focus on faith, love, and connection. “Being a parent is not easy, but it’s a gift,” Sara says. “It’s an opportunity to grow, learn patience, and become less selfish.” One of her greatest joys is watching her children blossom in their friendship as little buddies. Her 4-year-old son has fully embraced his role as a big brother, always eager to help his little sister and share special moments with her.
As she settles into her new community, Sara is excited to continue her work supporting women, moms, and families. Whether through one-on-one counseling, couples therapy, EMDR sessions, or group workshops, she is committed to creating a space where women feel heard, validated, and empowered to thrive.
